Gobelins is the largest and most diverse of the Paris arrondissements.
Butte-aux-Cailles, Cité Florale, Bibliotheque Nationale de France, Italie 2, rue des Cinq Diamants, Passage Barrault, Marché Auguste Blanqui
The 13th is an arrondissement of contrasts from the very modern Bibliotheque Nationale de France and Italie 2 Shopping Centre to the high-rise apartment buildings sitting above an ethnic Asian mix of shops and restaurants and the intimate villages of Butte-aux-Cailles and Cité Florale.
Experience the best of Eastern cuisine and culture alongside the peaceful ruelles (side streets) of rue de la Butte-Aux-Cailles and rue des Cinq Diamants. Passage Barrault and Villa Daviel with its row of cottages, resemble village lanes rather than city streets. Shop with the locals at the sumptuous outdoor market (open Tuesday, Friday and Sunday) - Marché Auguste Blanqui beside Corvisart metro station.

The neighbouhood is authentically French…
… with great neighbourhood restaurants and bars. We loved every minute of it.

Butte-aux-Cailles is more village lanes than city streets ...
... and its shops and bars do feel more intimate and local than anywhere else.
The neighbourhood is wonderful…
… not the Paris of Haussmann but the Paris of villages that pre-dates the second half of the 19th century, full of young people enjoying life in a non-drink infested manner. While not in the center of Paris, the nearby Place d'Italie offers perfect and fast subway connections to just about about anywhere in Paris.
