Atypical Alésia dominates the south of our map of Paris arrondissements.
Paris Catacombs, Cité Universitaire, Cité Florale, Marché Daguerre, Denfert Rochereau, Parc Montsouris, Tour Montparnasse
Land in to this very Parisian neighbourhood at Denfert Rochereau, 30 minutes on the RER B train from CDG or Orly, and pick up fresh ingredients for dinner at Marché Daguerre. While you will feel more like a local than a tourist when you stay in Alésia, the district is home to the Tour Montparnasse and the Paris Catacombs.
Alésias' south east quarter is defined on a grand scale by Parc Montsouris and the facilities of Cité Universitaire campus, and on a small scale by the enchanting Square Montsouris and nearby Cité Florale where houses and cottages with flower boxes, wisteria and roses abound.
Browse our very own images and customer observations to get a feel for the Alésia neighbourhood. If you think it might be the most suitable of the Paris districts to stay in for you, avail of our user-friendly map tool to precisely pinpoint and select an apartment in the locality or view our full list of Paris Apartment Rentals Alésiai.
Marche Daguerre on the border of the Alesia and Montparnasse neighbourhoods
- serving locals with great food and produce from its stalls, bars and restaurants.
The local area is interesting…
… with plenty of good supermarkets nearby and a great restaurant around the corner.

Montparnasse Cemetery above and the Paris Catacombs below - legendary!
- beside Denfert Rochereau Metro and RER B stations
Convenient for Gare du Nord and rue Daguerre is a pretty market street…
… that is full of cafes/restaurants and fresh fruit and vegetable stores along with a small supermarket and bakery. The number 4 metro line runs through the neighbourhood and is on the same line as Gare Du Nord so simple enough to get to the Eurostar.
Doreen Barret, Canada, November 2012 | Stayed in Rue Charles D’Ivry in Alésia
A discreet entrance and a modest fee for the "world's largest grave" with the remains of six million people!
Cite Universitaire station has direct train connections to Gare du Nord and CDG and Orly airports
Step outside and you are at the university's front entrance and the main gate to the wonderful Parc Montsouris.
The arched entrance to Cite Internationale Universitaire de Paris campus
We love the 14th which has great markets…
… good restaurants, several cinemas which show films in English. It's a nice walk to Les Invalides, Musee D'Orsay, Notre Dame and the Luxembourg Gardens.

Port de Vanves - at the neighbourhood's southern border with the Peripherique
Renowned for its bric a brac flea market, busy food stalls, stores and bars.
