The Apartment

This bright, quiet, 32 sqm Paris vacation apartment is in the building of a former barracks of the musketeers of the King. The amazing wooden beams date from the 17th century and the charming courtyard housed the musketeers' horses. Rue de Sèvres II is on the second floor and was entirely renovated in November 2013. It is a mix of vintage and contemporary furnishings, is very comfortable and has plenty of storage space. The kitchen is well equipped and has a breakfast counter. The bathroom fittings are lovely. The flatscreen TV in the living area is concealed behind an easily removable picture. The bedroom also has a TV but does not have US or English channels.

Luxembourg Gardens, Le Bon Marché, rue de Rennes, Rodin museum, Musée d'Orsay, Les Deux Magots, Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, La Coupole, Les Invalides ...

Walk from Rue de Sevrès II to Luxembourg Gardens, Musée d'Orsay, the Rodin museum and Les Invalides. Choose from the art deco La Coupole and the cluster of famous restaurants around Vavin metro station or Les Deux Magots and its cafe culture comrades around Saint Germain metro station. If you are a good walker you would be comfortable striking out from here to The Eiffel Tower in one direction and Notre Dame in the other.

This location will also suit shopping oriented visitors to the city. As well as an amazing range of local bakeries, cremeries etc, the most famous names in fashion and interior furnishings have their shops on nearby rue de Rennes and Le Bon Marché, Paris's most exclusive department and food store is just the proverbial two steps away.

The neighbourhood is blessed with markets from one end of the week to the other - the open air markets along boulevard Edgar Quinet (food on Wednesday and Saturday mornings and artists on Sunday mornings) and the organic market on boulevard Raspail om Tuesday, Friday and Sunday mornings. With over 200 traders on Saturday and Sunday mornings, the city's third largest, but many Parisian's favourite, flea market at Porte de Vanves is only 5 stops on line 13 from nearby Duroc metro.

The closest Metro stops are Vaneau (line 10) and Duroc (lines 10 and 13) and are each a five minute walk.

Oh, no musketeer ghosts were encountered!

The apartment was better than my previous selection a bit further down the Rue. Separate WC & shower. Lots of closet space & new appliances. You had noted that it was on the 2eme etage [ I need to figure out how to get the accent marks] so I was ready for that.

What I was not ready for was that the bed is about 2 1/2 feet [0.762 m] off the floor. Mattress & pillows were fine but it was a bit of a challenge for a 75 year old person getting up. The same is true of the living room ‘couch’. The metro station is almost right across the street & it is only a couple blocks from one at which there are multiple connections.

A comment might be included in the info section with regard to the age factor although I have no idea how many people in my age category would consider an apartment without a lift to begin with.

The location of the apartment was great.

We had a great time in Paris.

The location of the apartment was great. It was within walking distance to great shopping, as well as a great section of restaurants. The Metro station was directly across the street.

The apartment was clean and supplied well. The updated kitchen and bath were very well done. The apartment was very quite.

There were a couple of downsides, the apartment it is very small. The stairs getting into the apartment are not for the weak. It is a very steep climb. There is no left. Renters need to know to be prepared to get some exercise. I would recommend to the owners of the apartment to upgrade the bed. We Americans are used to a mattress and box springs. Pretty small for folks that are use to a King size bed. Also, it would have been really nice if the TV in the bedroom had the English news channels on it.

We really enjoyed our cozy Paris apartment.

Thank you so much for making our trip a great experience.
